I never planned on having a career in real estate. Our family went through a series of professional and personal circumstances that caused us to live in 3 states in less than 10 months in 2021-22.  That's 3 moves, 4 home purchases or sales and many moving truck miles, all with 2 teenagers.  One of the most devastating challenges we faced during this time was when the first home we were selling had a pipe burst in the middle of the night and it flooded the whole home three days before closing. We had already moved 700 miles away when I got the news!  Our realtor was an absolute Godsend. When all I wanted to do was cry, she had such compassion and let me know it was going to be OK. She jumped right into action and went way above and beyond to help us get the house back on the market.  I truly believe we would not have made it through it so well without her!  I didn't realize at the time that what we went through with that and her actions would be one of the things that inspired me to eventually pursue it as a career.

We were just getting settled in state #2, when only a few months later, when we realized we would be moving AGAIN.  At that point I decided to get my real estate license solely to help our family. Being in my late 40s I certainly wasn't planning on starting a new career! However when we found out we were moving back to the town that we called home for so many years before, I felt a pull that maybe I should do more with it.  I knew and loved the area, knew lots of people and could drive places without GPS all of the time.  I called my real estate inspiration who was such a great help to us and gauged from her what to look for in a brokerage.  Then I reached out to Heather and when she described how Skender-Newton Realty operated, it sounded almost exactly like what was recommended to me to look for in a brokerage. I was able to dive right in and get trained by some of the very best!  

Skender-Newton Realty has provided me with all of the necessary resources and every opportunity for success.  Now here I am in my early 50's enjoying this new career with all of the challenges and rewards it brings. Since starting, I've been able to serve almost 70 clients in finding their dream properties.  I never imagined it would be possible when starting out!  You don't always know which path that God will put you on and it's definitely not always easy.  Still, make the most of it! We should always be open to new challenges no matter what season of life we are in because that's when we get out of our comfort zone and grow!
